KRISTAN  LAVIETES // poems

Portrait photography of a woman with red hair and freckles, smiling gently. The warm lighting and blurred wooden background create a natural, approachable mood.

Kristan LaVietes is a Seattle poet. Her work has appeared in Pearl, Nerve Cowboy, Door is a Jar, and Triggerfish Critical Review. She holds an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Cal State, Long Beach. She has been, among other things, a zoo employee, writer for hire, liquor store cashier, maid, and wedding officiant.

She writes to celebrate the places she has lived and been. She is wild about comeback stories. She also writes about things that get in the way, about evolutions of intimacy and redemption in motherhood, daughterhood, sisterhood, and romantic love and desire. Her most recent poems are part of a completed chapbook, The Poor Old Walls.
